The Ultimate Guide For Overcoming The Flu

gettingoverflu_LargeThere’s no doubt about it, being sick with a cold or flu sucks. That feeling of a scratchy throat or the feeling like you’re going to throw up at the drop of a hat is no fun. Especially when you feel like you can’t miss school or work.

Since changing my diet to a 100% raw food diet back in 2003 to 2010, I’ve only been sick probably 2 times with any kind of flu or cold. I have had digestive issues like indigestion and I’ve had a sour stomach from eating perhaps too much of a rotten avocado or something but never seasonal allergies or sickness to speak of.

I’m going to share with you a few things you can adopt into your life right when you feel like a cold is coming on so you can beat it quickly. These items will be substances you can get at your local health food store or online. Obviously this list is not exhaustive but merely designed as a way to get to first base.

These same principles would apply if you were trying to overcome any disease. I’m going to leave out some of the more expensive healing modalities like chelation therapy, blood plasma therapy, oxygen therapy, frequency generators and things of that nature. I highly recommend people invest in their health and their future buy purchasing some of these high ticket items. I think it’s critical in the event that you or your family member’s ever become diagnosed with such diseases.

There are many things one can do to stop a cold or flu head on but what I want to do is list some things that are cheap (some of them in this list but not all), easy and that you can put into practice by just going to the health food store.

So let’s get right into it…

Food Substances

Echinacea

Echinacea is an amazing substance that you want to load up on at the first sign of a cold or flu. It’s not a substance you want to take every single day. It has antimicrobial properties and top scientists from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy maintain that it dramatically reduces the changes of getting a cold by 58% and lessens the time of a cold or flu by 1.4 days. You can take echinacea in tea or in pill form.

Hydration

Being hydrated is #1 for healing. Your body needs lots of liquids and water to help it to have proper oxygen transfer and blood circulation to beat the illness. Make sure to avoid sodas that contain high fructose corn syrup. We recommend the best water possible. Preferably something with Magnesium in it or better yet start gathering your own fresh spring water right from the source. But if you have to drink water out of plastic from the store, that will do in a pinch.

We recommend half your body weight in ounces per day.

Vitamin C

There are great products that contain lots of Vitamin C. We like Health Force Vitamin C . You could also get a product called Zija Moringa that contains 4 times the Vitamin C of oranges. Other ways of getting vitamin c are goji berries, and other superfood green powders and oranges.

Whatever you do go and get Vitamin C you’ll be so glad you did.

Juicing

Juicing fresh vegetables is one of the most healthy things you can do when you have a cold. It alkalizes the body (assuming you juice alkaline foods like green leafy vegetables), it helps to bring in an abundance of enzymes, vitamins and minerals in a pre-digested way to your blood stream in under 15 minutes. When you’re fighting an infection like a cold or flu your body needs energy to produce the killer T-Cells. It doesn’t need to spend its energy digesting a slice of pizza.

Flood your body with nutrition in liquid form through the use of a blender like a Vitamix or a Juicer and let your body save its energy for healing.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is one of my favorite remedies for many different illnesses. Make sure you get a raw and organic brand. We like Bragg Organic Vinegar Apple Cider. ACV helps to thin the mucous membranes when you have a cold which is nice when you feel stuffy in your sinuses. It is also a great product to help neutralize the excessive alkalinity that occurs in your body when you have a fever. It creates the ideal acid alkaline balance in your blood for your body to heal.

Dilute 2 or 3 tablespoons in 8oz of water and drink 3 times a day for best results.

Fasting

There have been many books about the health benefits of fasting. People fast from all kinds of things. Fasting allows your digestive system to take a break and heal. It allows your body to come back into true homeostasis and it allows your body to get rid of the junk that shouldn’t be there that could be contributing to the illness in the first place.

I like to drink liquids only when I’m sick. These liquids might be bone broth, Reishi and Chaga tea, Kombucha, Kefir, Green Juices, Coconut Water, Water, Almond Milks and things like that.

Urine Therapy

I wrote an entire article about how beneficial it is to drink your own urine. I know it sounds completely disgusting but it’s been practiced around the world safely for thousands of years. There’s a reason why it’s a big component of Ayurvedic Medicine for the past 5,000 years.

Urine therapy is one of the most powerful things you can to to reeducate your immune system about what’s foreign and what’s domestic. Urine is basically purified blood that contains every necessary enzyme, fatty acid, vitamin and mineral needed to sustain life.

Add a few drops to your Apple Cider Vinegar and you won’t taste a thing. Trust me!

Probiotics

It has been said that 80% of your immune system is the beneficial bacteria in your gut. These bacteria through a process called biological transmutation transform vitamins and minerals in the food we eat into electrical information that our cells can actually utilize.

Take probiotic supplements. You can make your own coconut water kefir, milk kefir, kombucha or sauerkraut. Or if you’re in a pinch you can simply buy some of these items from amazon or your local health food store.

Start eating as much fermented food as you can during a time of sickness.

Energetic Healing

Sweating

Sweating is absolutely essential to not only our long term health but also for overcoming any kind of cold or flu in record time. We like to use our Sauna or our BioMat in order to sweat out the toxins.

If you don’t own one of these amazing healing devices, you might be able to find a gym or spa in your area that has a sauna you can sit in for an hour or so to really produce a fever.

Remember the quote by Hippocrates:

“Give me the power to produce a fever, and I will cure all disease…”

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is key. Lots of the toxins you’re exposed to and have overrun your body are locked up in your lymph cells. If you get a cut on your hand for example and it gets infected you’ll notice the lymph nodes under your arm pit on that same arm become swollen. This is because your body is preventing the toxins and bacteria from going into the chest cavity where all your vital organs reside.

The body is so smart. The problem is that your lymphatic system is filled with millions of one way valves that can only open and close when your jump up and down on a rebounder or mini trampoline. Positive Thoughts

Our mental state controls our body. The body on a physical level must obey whatever it is we have going on in our minds. It’s mind over matter. It’s important to stay upbeat, stay positive and know that you’re getting healthier and healthier as each second passes. Also God has given you this cold or flu as a wake up call. The quicker you learn the lesson the quicker you’ll recover.

Lots of Rest

What do animals do in the wild when they get sick? They huddle up in a cave and sleep for 3 days and they heal. By working or going to the gym and doing active things during a time of sickness you’re only prolonging the time it’s going to take to heal.

Sleep as much as you can, stay quiet, relax, drink water and you’ll find that you regain your health in no time.

Skin Brushing

During a time of sickness your body is trying to detox. Allow it to detox more easily by working with it instead of against it. The skin is your largest organ of elimination. Toxins are trying to leave the skin every second of every day. By skin brushing not only are you increasing lymphatic drainage (to a much smaller degree than rebounding) but you’re also removing dead debris sitting on the top layer of your skin. This allows other toxins to be released more easily.

Coffee Enemas
