Daily Disciplines: 9 Acts Of Self Love That Are Non Negotiable Part 1

act-of-self-love-articleDo you guys have some daily disciplines you do everyday in order to stay healthy? We all have certain things we do to maintain good health. A question I like to ask myself each day is, “what have I done today that’s life affirming?”

That’s a good starting point. I’ll share with you some of the small things that I do each day to stay healthy. These things on the list don’t take much time each day but over time they really add up to improving your overall state of well being tremendously.

Rebounding

I don’t compromise on this one. Rebounding is THE best way to create massive amounts of endorphins, removes metabolic waste in the form of lactic acids which potentially causes cancer, it increases bone mass, improves cardiovascular health and literally is the only internal organ exercise on the planet which stimulates every single cell in your body. Not other exercise will do that. So now you can see why I do rebounding each day without fail.

I jump up and down for 20 minutes per day which equates to 121 hours per year and 152 complete 24 hour days after 30 years. We only recommend the Bellicon rebounder.

Sauna & Sweating

I sit in a Relax FAR Infrared sauna for anywhere between 20 minutes and 30 minutes per day. Sweating removes fat soluble toxins, chemicals, poisons and lactic acids. Sweating improves circulation, strengthens the heart and cardovascular system and it’s a great way to radically improve immune health and longevity. Say goodbye to colds!

This is a no brainer for me. We like to watch documentaries while sweating. How hard is it to sit for 30 minutes and watch something you enjoy?

Reading

Reading is a way to learn new ideas, to expand your mind and explore other worlds of possibility. You can do all this by reading fiction or non fiction. The best leaders read, it’s that simple. My goal is to read 10 to 15 pages per day. That’s about 300 to 450 pages in a month which could be one book or maybe two per month!

Reading 10 pages a day takes literally just a few minutes out of my day and it helps me to stay inspired, keep focus and engage my mind with new concepts to help motivate me more in all areas of my life.

Listening To Empowering Information

My iPod (iPod Classic) is FILLED with educational and inspirational information. I routinely download shows off of youtube in mp3 format, I’ll listen to Hay House interviews or anything else that’s uplifting and empowering. There’s enough negativity and depressing information out there in the world to fill a million lifetimes.

Not only do we need to remove ourselves from being exposed to that kind of information (like not eating junk food), but we need to restore our heart and mind with healthy, thought provoking and inspirational information in order to achieve all that we are on earth to accomplish.

I must listen to at least 2 to 3 hours of this kind of cutting edge information per day. In a year that is roughly 30 full days. If that won’t change your life, nothing will. 🙂

Meditation

I’ve been a big believer in meditation for quite some time now. Meditation is a way of unplugging from the stress and craziness around us. Not only is meditation a way to unplug from how chaotic modern life is but it’s alway a way to “plug into” God and our own bodies. We’ve lost touch with our ability to even feel things.

Meditation for me helps to create a small gap that sits between me (my ego, my reactions, my thoughts, my opinions, stuff I have to do) and the real me which is soul or spirit. It helps me to create space between the two so the next time I’m in a stressful situation, I can go back to that peaceful non reactive and non judgemental place because I already learned how to go there during meditation.

This could change and probably will but I usually set an online egg timer for 15 minutes for all my daily meditations.

Skin Brushing

Skin brushing improves skin health like nothing else. It radically increases lymphatic drainage and circulation as well as removes dead skin cells allowing more toxins in the blood to be released through the skin. Did you know that by skin brushing your arm you can improve the skin on your face without ever even brushing your face?

It’s that powerful.

I skin brush each night before I take a shower.

Urine Therapy

We recently did a show about urine therapy and even wrote an entire article about it which has become wildly popular. Apparently people really are interested in drinking their own pee! 😉

Urine therapy helps to re-educate your immune system as to what’s foreign and what’s domestic so it’s great for auto-immune disease. People have fasted on their own urine to cure themselves of cancer. It’s the most powerful substance in terms of nutrition and health giving qualities you could ever consume. Green juices and mushrooms are not even a close second.

And we’ve only just begun to understand everything that urine has in it. We’re barely scratching the surface of what heights it can take the body to. I mix it with equal parts of water and Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and drink enough to do a shot like in your old drinking days. Then I chase it down with some water or juice to minimize the taste.

With the vinegar in there, trust me you don’t taste the urine at all.

Stretching

Stretching or doing some form of yoga is critical to do each day. I personally do both and find that my sleep is greatly enhanced by doing some form of stretching or yoga right before bed. As we get old our thoughts, our habits and our bodies become rigid, brittle and dry. We want to remain strong and supple but also be flexible and willing to change and accept new ideas while throwing out the bad.

Yoga helps keep the body and mind pliable, soft and able to bend with the times, just like when you were a little child.

Ahh remember those days? Yoga can help pull you in that direction.

Walking

Walking is the ultimate exercise for man. Yes I love rebounding, doing qigong and lifting heavy weights at the gym. I also love surfing, hiking and fun stuff like that but nothing beats good old fashioned walking. It really helps with stress, increases oxygen and circulation all throughout the body and improves cardiovascular health like nothing else. Plus it’s very low impact and it’s about the most natural form of movement for mankind!

How could you improve on that?

I walk at least an hour or more per day. Usually that happens when I walk to the beach, or walk our dog Maggie or walking to the gym. Either way I never miss my daily walks.

How about you? What are some of your non compromise activities you do each day.
