Feel Good Project day 27

Another one down.

SAD.

I LOVE this day and all of its nostalgia.

It amazes me every year just how fast it rolls around and leaves me dumbfounded that it fades in the blink of an eye.

Christmas seems to take center stage even before the turkeys have been pulled from the ovens around this country, and I get it-we all seem to be trying to preserve the short time we have of this magical season as well.

I am guilty of this, as I spent all morning (in between making the most YUMMY sweet potato mash) setting up the tree and putting festive decor all around the house.

Thanksgiving to me though has become like Valentine’s Day and other seemingly contrived days-where as I am getting older, I seem to think this whole thing sure does not seem to make a whole lot of sense to me.

I mean, shouldn’t we all be more THANKFUL and LOVING all the year long, trying to better show our loved ones how much we care about and adore them on a daily basis rather than just designating a particular day to this?

I used to think it was great when my mom would ask around the Thanksgiving table what we were all thankful for, and we’d then take turns sharing what it was that most made our lives easier and more comfortable.

This is a beautiful tradition and I am not knocking it by any means, I am just reminded on this day more than anything else, that this should NOT be a one day celebration.

I desire to have a heart of gratitude every single day-no matter how challenging a day I find myself in. This is no easy feat, and not for the faint of heart that is for sure.

This year, I strive to have so much thankfulness in my life, that instead of having ONE single day reminding me to say a big giant thanks for ALL the goodness and blessings in my life, I look back and have not one single day I DIDN’T give thanks.

Too numerous are the blessings this year has brought to me and I AM thankful of course.

Instead of sitting around the dinner table to take the time to say thanks though, for me this year it has been an ongoing conversation with Justin, friends and family who support me, and of course with God.

FEEL GOOD MOMENT OF THE DAY: My 91 year old grandpa smiling at the Thanksgiving table today brought about a sense of nostalgia that goes back as far as I can remember….and the fact that he still cracks funny jokes and even has a sarcastic side is a plus of course:)
