Stop Listening To Our Shows…

stop-listening-to-our-showsBefore we went live with our last guest Donna Gates, she mentioned that she had her own radio show on Hay House Radio. I brought it up on during our show with her.

Many show hosts wouldn’t want to mention other radio shows because they want their listeners to only listen to their show. To heck with that, Hay House is putting out some great content, so go listen to it.

I’m not pretentious, I realize there are lots of great radio shows out there doing amazing things for the world. The fact that you listen to us, humbles and amazes me.

But here’s what I want you to do, stop listening to our guests. I know sounds weird right? Why would a person like me tell you to stop listening to our show?

Kate and I were having a conversation today in the kitchen and we were talking about our current digestive challenges we’re both facing right now since coming back from the Caribbean.

Did we pick up a parasite? Do we have the rope worms that Professor Alex Volinsky was talking about? Why do we feel so bloated and uncomfortable all the time?

I mean we run a radio show about Extreme Health why are we feeling so horrible at the moment? We could hide it and make all of you listeners think everything is fine. We could make it seem like we experience perfect health 100% of the time but we don’t.

We’re no different than you. We go through our ups and our downs. We’re exposed to toxins and chemical just like you. And we’re doing everything we know to get healthier every day.

So what do I mean when I say to you don’t listen to “experts”?

There’s so much noise today. One author says the paleo diet is the best diet ever, then another person says the raw vegan diet is the diet that we should eat. Then another person says that the primal (raw animal products) diet is the best diet for man.

All these “experts” sound convincing on our show don’t they?

Do Kate and I agree with all of them?

Nope.

Do we follow their advice?

Nope.

Do they sound believable?

Completely.

With all this noise and extremely educated people saying the exact opposite things, what the heck are we supposed to do? I mean, who has time to sit around all day and research this stuff? I know I don’t.

At some point you’re going to have to pick a guy, follow his advice and see if it works for you.

The problem is that if that diet doesn’t agree with you it’s hard to admit you might be wrong. Or God forbid he might be wrong.

We can’t have that now can we?

Once you realize that he and you were wrong, you have to admit defeat and move on to the next diet.

What if there was another way? What if you could simply bypass the experts all together and start listening to your own body?

A novel idea isn’t it?

When we were on the health retreat in the Caribbean Dr. Dandes would keep saying, “I’m not teaching you anything, I’m simply helping you remember what you already know.”

We’ve somehow forgotten how to listen to our bodies in our culture.

We’re so used to following the advice of so called “experts.” We need heroes. We need one person to rise from the masses and tell us how we should eat and how we should live.

What I’m saying is just the opposite. Turn off the noise. Stop listening to our radio show (if this will help you to start listening to yourself better) and start using your own intuition about food and diet.

This is what muscle testing (aka kinesiology) is all about. Your body naturally responds on an energetic level poorly or positively to every food.

We know what’s going to be good for us in that moment. We know what’s going to cause us cramps, bloating and diarrhea. We know it before we even eat it.

Stop and listen.

How Do We Cultivate The Ability To Listen To Our Bodies?

The first step is to cut out the noise. If you have to stop listening to our show, please do that. Your health is more important to me than how many people listen to our show.

I know you might not believe that but it is.

The next step is to find some time each day to meditate. Turn your mind off for at least 15 to 20 minutes a day. I know it’s a challenge but it’s more than worthy of you endeavors.

Stop reading diet and nutrition books for a while, begin to meditate and ask God to help you. Deep within each one of us is an inner compass that we can tap into if we just quiet down.

Turn off your cell phones, your computers, your iPods and your TV’s and start to live a quieter life.

This will have a dramatic impact on your life and your ability to meditate and get in touch with your instincts and intuition.

The final step is to eat spiritually. What do I mean by this? What I mean is say a prayer filled with gratitude before you eat. Thank God for each bite. Eat with intention. Sit quietly and feel what the food is doing to your body.

Feel your body react to what you just ate. Chew your food. Sit quietly and eat like it’s a meditation.

When you’re done just sit with your food for a while and feel how it affects you and perhaps write it down. Write down what you ate and how you feel afterwards and even write down your emotions while you were eating it. This is very important.

You’ll start to feel exactly how food affects you. It’s like an exercise. You have to practice this type of thing on a daily basis.

You go to the gym to work out right? Well if you want to start to be in tune with your instincts and intuition you have to practice it every day.

Then when you come back to listening to our show or others, you’ll immediately know exactly what kind of diet works for you and what doesn’t.

It’ll be a more powerful knowing because it’ll be rooted in your own experience.

This is one of the deepest types of knowing. When you know something based on direct experience no “expert” on a show like ours can tell you otherwise.

And when you start believing the diet you’re eating is the healthiest one on the planet, that’s where the real magic is. When you start believing that you’ve got the exact diet that works for your body, that’s when it will be.

It’s in the belief about what you’re eating, not WHAT you’re eating.

Make sense?
