My Update 2 Weeks After Changing Protein Powder

NUTIVA-50-PROTEIN-POWDER-16-2TMany of you who follow the blog and radio show probably know that a while back we had to let one of our affiliate relationships go.

I’m still undecided on this for two main reasons.

We talked about it on our last Free For All Friday Show as well as in a previous post which you can read here.

The main two reasons is I absolutely LOVED Nick Stern (co founder of Sun Warrior). I spoke with him extensively off the air.

The other reason is that the rice based protein powder is not the only product they have. They have a few other products as well like Vitamin Mineral Rush, Raw Vitamins for Her, Raw Vitamins for Him, Ormus Supergreens, Activated Barley, Liquid Light and Immune Shield.

They also have the Warrior Blend protein powder which contains a pea based protein along with MCT (medium chain triglycerides) and cranberry powder. I seem to do better with that.

If you know me by now you know I’m not in this to make money. Sure we all need money but I don’t promote products just to make a dollar. I like to own the product or at least have used it in order to feel good about promoting it.

I wrote a whole post about the Tapping World Summit that I don’t promote for this very reason.

In any event I’m torn because I have tried the Ormus Supergreens and Liquid Light product and love them very much. I haven’t tried any of the others except for the two protein powders they offer.

Having been familiar with Nick for many years and having spoke with him off the air I really got a sense of who he is and what he’s all about. I just love him. And just because I don’t do well with his rice based protein powder (for now) doesn’t mean you won’t or doesn’t mean that’s the product you should buy from him.

I’m going to continue thinking about it for a few more days to see if I’m going to re-activate our affiliate link with them.

I’ll keep pondering it because my relationship with you is what matters most here.

In any event I have to say I’ve been off the Sun Warrior protein powder for about 2 weeks now and I feel amazing. Before I was having all manner of digestive issues. My gut was really in bad shape.

Like I said in my previous post I can’t blame it on or pin it on Sun Warrior in any way. During the time I’ve been off of Sun Warrior and my digestion has been great I’ve been on some MSM powder so that might have been helping too.

I want to be honest with you to let you know if I have introduced any new foods or supplements. Until I get my next shipment of the One World Whey protein powder (you can listen to the interview here) or check it out in our store to see some videos, I’ve been using the raw hemp protein powder by Nutiva.

Let me say off the bat that it doesn’t taste nearly as good as Sun Warrior or have that silky smooth texture.

But I will say that my digestion and elimination has been amazing lately. I no longer have any tightness in my stomach. I used to have indigestion really bad quite frequently.

I know Sun Warrior protein powder really isn’t an issue for many people reading this but for those of you that seem to be affected by it, you might want to do some experimenting with your diet and different protein powders to see what works best for you.

To be fair there are people who react to whey protein powder but as somebody who has a pretty sensitive stomach and digestion, I don’t react in a negative way at all to One World Whey. I’m guessing it’s probably because it’s raw, grass fed, hormone free, antibiotic free and all the nutrients are kept in tact.

How Has This Affected My Training?

I want you to know that I’m the last guy on the planet that will make bold claims stating that changing to hemp protein IS the reason why I got stronger. All I can say is that it could be a factor.

What I will say though is that all my lifts at the gym have gone up. On my bench press right now (I change up my workout routines a lot) I’m doing 5×5. That means I lift the weight 5 times in one set and do 5 sets of that. My last time I lifted 230 pounds with no help. I did have a spotter but he didn’t help on any of the lifts.

I know people lift a lot more but I’m pretty happy with that considering I’m only 170 pounds and I’ve been hitting a plateau lately on bench and seem to have got stronger lately to bust through that.

Also on my barbell shoulder press, I’m lifting 135 pounds doing 5×5 these days.

I’m not going to say the Nutiva hemp protein is what’s doing that right now because I do eat other types of protein like fish, chicken, meats and raw eggs but I do feel some kind of difference and switching protein powder (other than incorporating MSM) is about the only major thing I’ve changed.

So who knows.

I’m thinking when the One World Whey comes I might get even stronger as it always seems to have that effect on me.

What about you, what’s your favorite protein powder these days?
