My Current Diet…

Heart-Healthy-Diet-Eat-Well-Stay-Healthy-700x395

Recently I’ve had quite a few emails coming from listeners asking what I eat on a daily basis. I answered the first few and then when more kept coming in I thought it would be best to create a blog post about it. It seems strange to think that people would want to know what I eat but I guess it makes sense since this is a health blog and radio show focusing on natural healing, holistic living and dietary principles for longevity and disease free living.

So knowing what the host (yours truly) is eating naturally makes sense.

So here you go for those that wanted to know what my diet is like!

I usually start out each day by taking a swig of water with my morning dose of zeolites and a few drops of iodine. Right after that (it takes 2 seconds to put together) I’ll usually sqeeeze one lemon and add about 16 ounces of water to that and sip that during the shows. Sometimes I’ll add in MSM powder if we have some on hand, and a pinch of sea salt for the minerals.

Then after the show around 10:30am I start to put together my green smoothie for breakfast. Lately the base of my green smoothie has been the spring water we get from the Lake Hemet Spring.

Some other liquid bases I’ll use if I have them handy are:

  • Water kefir
  • An ounce of milk kefir
  • Kombucha
  • Medicinal teas (usually a combination of reishi and/or chaga)
  • Coconut water
  • Almond or sunflower seed milk

If I have all of them sometimes I’ll add an ounce or so of each liquid just for fun. Otherwise I just use water.

Once I have my base I’ll throw in a bunch of greens usually mixed salad greens and some spinach depending on what we have. I then blend just the greens with my base to make sure the fibrous greens get blended up properly in my amazing Vitamix blender.

After that comes my superfood powders. It varies all the time so here’s what I put in today:

  • Heaping scoop of Sunwarrior protein powder (for protein to build muscle)
  • Some silica rich clay from Vitality Herbs & Clay (to help cleanse and for minerals – talk to Michael King & tell them we sent you!)
  • Stevia (for sweetness)
  • Chia seeds (for fats & protein)
  • Hemp seeds (for fats & protein)
  • Kelp powder (for the minerals and iodine)
  • 2 raw eggs (for the healthy fats and protein)

Once that’s blended I’ll add in 1 small piece of fruit. Today it was a tangerine. Yesterday it was a kiwi fruit. I like the keep the fruit sugars low if I can. Then I’ll add in 1 avocado for more healthy fats and to keep me nice and satiated for many hours.

Then after that I’ll add in some frozen berries. I love blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries and maybe a couple ice cubes to make it nice and cold.

That might fill up 3/4 of the Vitamix caraffe and that’ll keep me full for hours.

Then I might snack during the day on things like goji berries, sauerkraut, raw chocolate (cacao), or a raw energy bar if I can get them at the health food store. Then I’ll usually go workout for an hour.

When I get back I’ll usually make another protein shake right after my workout. I might add in 1/3 of a banana, 1 date, some coconut milk, raw carob powder, chia seeds, hemp seeds, 2 raw eggs again, some raw grass fed butter, mesquite powder, some clay, stevia and another avocado.

That’ll keep me full again for hours until dinner.

Then at dinner we usually eat around 5 or 6pm. We might have some kind of meat meal with cooked vegetables. Tonight I had some salmon cooked in the oven with some spices on it along with some olive oil drizzled over the top AFTER it’s cooked. I don’t like cooking oils! I might add some raw grass fed butter to the top of that. Then we might have some broccoli and cooked carrots with that.

Before that meal we’ll usually have an ounce or two of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar to increase the stomach acids before such a heavy meal. I’ll also take a bunch of supplements like digestive enzymes and hydrochloric acid to help my body break that down.

Then around 7 or 8pm we’ll make a green juice loaded with cucumber, melon rinds, 1 green apple, celery, kale, romaine lettuce, lemon juice, carrot, parsley and any other vegetables we happen to have on hand.

Then I’ll hop in the sauna and start getting ready for bed.

So I hope that answers your questions about what my diet is each day. Obviously it varies what kind of meat we have for dinner and what ingredients I put into our blender for my super food smoothies. Sometimes I’ll skip the dinner and go all raw for the entire day.

Have done a 100% raw food diet for 7 years, going a day or two doing all raw is like second nature.
