How To Take Care Of Your Skin

natural_skin_careAs you probably already know your skin is the largest organ in your body. It serves both as a protective layer to the inside of your body (preventing toxins from entering directly into your blood) as well as a way to ingest nutrition if you need to.

You can use iodine topically on the skin as well as substances like herbs combined with DMSO to help drive them into any affected areas on or in your body.

Since you’re going to be in your body for the next 120 years or so, you might was well take care of the first organ people see when they look at you. Here are some ideas that I’ve been doing lately that seem to be helping.

Skin Brush

Skin brushing is very powerful as it increases blood circulation all over the body. Allowing red blood cells full of oxygen to have better circulation helps the skin get more nutrition and cleansing. It also improves lymphatic flow which is also great for the skin.

Many people have reported that the skin on their face tightens, tones and becomes softer as a direct result from doing skin brushing over the rest of their body, not even their face! It also helps to remove dead skin cells from the upper surface of the skin (the dermis) and that allows sweat and toxins to more easily be eliminated through the tiny pores in the skin.

I do it every day either before a shower or before I get into our sauna.

Avoid Cooked Oils

I’ve heard it said that cooked oils (usually rancid even before they’re fried or cooked) when ingested are the #1 cause of skin blemishes and damage. Your liver and body has no idea what to do with these plastic rancid oils.

I suspect their is a link to skin cancers and cooked oils as well. Not only are cooked oils very damaging for the skin but they’re also detrimental for the insides of your arteries leading to your heart. Anything that’s fried has cooked oils on it and as you can imaging that includes tons of foods.

Chips, crackers, breads, french fries and so many other foods like this come to mind.

Take Care Of Your Liver

Have you ever seen on older people spots or blemishes on their hands or arms? They call them “liver spots” and say it’s just the result of aging. Well it’s not. It’s the result of toxins your body can’t get rid of and keeping poor liver health. The liver and colon are directly tied to how good or bad your skin looks.

If you’d like to take care of your liver there are all kinds of liver cleanses you can do out there. Taking olive oil and lemon each day can be very soothing to the liver. You can also take herbs like dandelion, milk thistle and other plants like that are very powerful in helping to detoxify your liver. Green juicing is also a great help in this regard as well.

Clean Your Colon

Imagine having clear skin that’s thick and supple with no lines or wrinkles when you’re 90 or 100. It’s possible if you start taking care of your internal organs now. After reading the book Colon Health Key to Vibrant Life by Dr. Norman Walker I learned more than I ever imagined I would about how the colon directly ties to key organs in your body through the meridian system.

I recommend at least once a year doing the Ejuva Cleanse or something similar as well as a series of 6 colonics twice per year.

Minimize Sun Damage

The first thing you should do is avoid slathering on toxic chemically laden commercial sunscreens that harm you in 2 ways. First they block essential vitamin D from being absorbed from your skin. Then the toxins, poisons and heavy metals from the sunscreen get absorbed into your body via your skin. If you can’t eat it, it shouldn’t go on your skin. On top of that sunscreen blocks the pores of your skin from eliminate whatever toxins were in your bloodstream even before you put it on. Sunscreen harms you in 3 ways. It’s better to avoid it all together.

We like the natural sunscreen from Sunstar Organics

Don’t spend hours upon hours in the sun. Wear a hat and a shirt or sit under an umbrella for a while. Avoid the middle hours of the day when the rays are the strongest. But do make sure you get some sun each day. Your body needs it and craves it.

Limit Your Exposure To Fluoride & Other Chemicals

Using hard water (usually high total dissolved solids – TDS) is very abrasive to the skin. It dries out the skin by stripping it of the oils it needs. Also it changes the ph of the skin to be more alkaline and the skin needs acids and oils to remain acidic.

Get a good water filter, we recommend the shower filters from Friends of Water (tell them we sent you using code extremehealth at checkout for a discount) and we uses them ourselves. If you’re interested we did an entire interview with Timothy Hickey who is the owner of Friends of Water.

They say you actually ingest and absorb more water when you’re taking a shower through your skin that you would by drinking.

Sweat Often

Sweating is absolutely one of the best things you could ever do for your skin. It teaches and trains your skin to detoxify chemicals and toxins, it opens up pores to release these chemicals as well as allowing things to come in.

Sweating using a FAR Infaraed Sauna is my secret trick to keeping good skin health. Learn more about them by clicking here.

Topical Products To Consider

I like to avoid any chemicals at all on my face or body. So we use coconut oil every day as well as a great product by Vintage Tradition made from grass fed beef tallow from cows. The stuff is incredible. We use it every single night and love it. It makes your skin soft and gives you a glow. Women love that glow don’t they? 🙂

But we use it every single night and absolutely love it.
