In this article we’re going to be talking about how to increase your health by making 3 simple “one time only” changes to the places where you spend the most time each day.

We’ll talk about how to create a healthier office, bedroom & bathroom.

If you think about it, you’re spending about 16 hours a day in a place that is putting lots of stress on your body & immune system.

You’ll learn simple strategies to make these environments supportive of health and healing rather than being a contributing factor to disease.

As you know, becoming healthier each day takes a lot of work, discipline and effort. If we do nothing to improve our health, we’ll degenerate much quicker and the aging process will accelerate. It’s just the world we live in.

Most of us have high stress corporate jobs or live in polluted areas. What we’re exposed to on a daily basis whether it’s toxic food, chemicals, stress or just electromagenetic radiation (EMF) from cell towers is enough to increase free radical damage and oxidize our cells which increases aging and disease.

In the world we live in today, if you want radical health you really have to work at it. Personally I love the challenge of adding in new protocols into my life that increase my energy and overall well being.

Some of these things include:

  • Gathering our own spring water from the source
  • Making our own fermented foods like saurkraut, kefir and kombucha
  • Juicing 3 to 4 times per week
  • Doing yoga 3 times per week
  • Weight training
  • Walking
  • Eating a high quality diet
  • Taking supplements
  • Gardening
  • Making herbal tinctures

I consider all of these things to be fun. I really enjoy them. It feels like this is the way we were meant to live. It’s just more natural than driving through a McDonalds and getting a hamburger with french fries at 11pm.

With all that being said, wouldn’t it be great to have the things you already do each day actually improve your health? You just have to set it up once and you benefit your health just by doing things you already do every day? It doesn’t get any better or easier than that.

This is what I want to talk about in this article. Think about your day for a moment. Where do you spend the most amount of your time and what do you do every single day?

These are the areas where we can make a radical upgrade to improve our health.

The items that I mention below are basically trying to recreate a more natural environment. They’re also meant to protect us from the effects of an unnatural environment.

Let’s take a look at 3 areas where you can really change a few things and get great results without even having to add one more disciplines into your life.

Your Sleep Environment

We all know how important it is to get a solid restful sleep. Let’s talk about some ways that you can improve your current sleeping situation. I realize each persons living situation is different and you might not be able to implement all of these ideas.

The idea though is to start with something, even just one thing.

Grounding

Much has been written about the benefits of grounding. For those that haven’t heard or don’t know about it, it essentially the idea of reconnecting to the magnetic radiation emitted from the earth. If you want more information about it, you can check out a book called Earthing and another called Are You Zapped?. These would be great places to start.

If you want to watch a couple of videos on grounding you can check out [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=E46Fm0dtE2c width=640 height=480 anchor=thisone] as well as [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=MLOx1kWCWoc width=640 height=480 anchor=thisone].

Here are 3 websites that I really like and should help you get started learning more about grounding. The last one is where you can buy grounding sheets for your bed and workstation.

There are grounding sheets you can buy that actually plug into the 3rd wire (which goes to the ground) and the sheet itself is soft, machine washable and lined with silver threads, which is highly conductive.

Turn Off Electrical Circuts To Your Home Or Bedroom

Lots of people today have found great benefit from getting an electrition to be able to re-wire the switches in their home so with one flip of a switch they can turn off all the electricity to their bedroom.

Your bedroom should be a place of safety, serenity and most of all healing. Having our bodies constantly have to be exposed to these unnatural frequencies and radiation for 8 hours a night is not going to allow you to get the kind of sleep you need.

You can also get something like a faraday cage that will help block [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=t23iXhEiQUc width=640 height=480 anchor=radiation] while you sleep. All of these frequencies and radiation are just not natural. If we were sleeping on the ground exposed to fresh air and moonlight each evening we would be much healthier.

Remember we’re trying to recreate what is the most natural place for us to sleep. You can even get paint that blocks radiation to paint the walls of your bedroom with. You can take it as far as you’d like.

Ideally you would be exposed to the fresh clean air, moonlight and connected to the earth while you sleep. If you want to get the most healing benefits from sleeping then this is the direction you want to head.

You’ll also want to get some plants to have in the bedroom along with a good air purifier. There are plants that can help to clean up the air as well as provide more oxygen to your sleep environment.

See below for more information about how plants can improve indoor air quality.

Get An Organic Bed

According to the work of Dr. Rima Laibow, the standard bed by law must be sprayed with non flammable chemicals in order to prevent burning. From the chemicals that we wash our sheets with to the chemicals that are in the bed itself we end up breathing these in for 8 hours. This puts one more stress on our immune system.

The two beds I know that are organic are one from Wild Flower Organics and even better the earthing bed.

Even though your bed won’t kill you, “it” along with lots of other toxic lifestyle habits WILL over time. All of these things put more demand on our immune system. Not only does it deprive you of sleep (and deep sleep) necessary for cleansing and healing, it also adds one more area in your life where you’re weakening your immune system.

Your Work Environment

Grounding

See my comments above. It’s pretty common for the average person to spend 8 hours or more per day sitting on the computer. By having the computer so close to us, the frequencies and radiation coming off are causing free radical damage at the cellular level.

Being properly grounded can help to mitigate these frequencies. I like to use a mouse pad that’s connected by a wire to help in that regard. I urge you to learn more about the healing benefits of being grounded.

Many people make such huge claims. Personally I don’t noticed any difference at all being grounded or not being grounded. I figure it’s much more natural to actually be in physical contact with the earth.

The reason why we’re so sick as a culture is we’re living very unnatural lives on just about every level. From food, to sleep, to work, travel all of these things are not natural to us and therefore cause stress on the immune system.

Zapping

Zappers are small devices that actually transmit small square wave frequencies directly onto your body. They were first developed by people like Bob Beck and Dr. Hulda Clark. The idea is that the frequencies emitted from the zapper resonate sound vibrations at the opposite frequencies that parasites and worms resonate at.

It’s similar in principle to being able to break glass by singing at the right [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=AnDudcbn3F0 width=640 height=480 anchor=pitch].

There are people like Aajonus Vonderplanitz who contend that we should not try to kill these parasites but instead live more symbiotically with them. I think he has a point but on another level, I think it’s important to kill what we can.

The zapper I have is about the size of a credit card and a half in length and half an inch wide. It’s a little black box and you can put it right under your belt when sitting at the computer. It takes no extra work and you’re killing parasites while you work.

You can also see the zapper developed by David Wolfe which I also recommend to people.

Blue Light Sunglasses

People like Dr. Rubin Naiman author of The Yoga of Sleep: Sacred and Scientific Practices to Heal Sleeplessness as well as Dr. Ray Peat talk about the effect of blue light on our ability to sleep.

In fact I’m wearing these sunglasses right at this moment. It’s interesting the more that I wear them at night when working on the computer, the more I find it hard NOT to wear them. The regular blue light coming off the screen seems so much more abrasive to me. I know that that is simply anecdotal evidence but true for me none the less.

Ditch The Office Chair And Sit On An Exercise Ball

You can have a much healthier spine and proper alignment in your body if your back is straight when sitting. Sitting in a typical office chair can allow us to become lazy with our back muscles. We tend to have improper posture which leads to the body being out of balance. It’s not natural to sit all day, it’s just not. So if we are going to sit, we should at least sit in the healthiest way possible.

Get A Standing Desk Or A Walking Desk

There are many options for standing desks out there today. I strongly suggest getting one of these. I do not have one at the moment although it’s only a matter of time until I purchase one. This company seems to make a good adjustable desk where you can use your own table top. But I prefer something more like the Treadmill Deskwhere you’re actually walking at 1 mph during the entire day. Now that is much more natural than simply sitting all day in a chair.

Man was never designed to do such a thing. All of that weight on your prostate and sex glands (for men or women) is going to cause problems over time.

Get Plants

There are certain plants that help to clean up the air in small office type environments. As we all know, plants inhale carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air. This is what your office and sleep areas need, more clean fresh oxygen coming from plants.

We consider it to be necessary with our diets, why not in our sleeping and working environments? Again think about nature and try to recreate that as much as possible in every area where you spend a great deal of time. The more you do that, the healthier you’ll be. About that, there is no doubt.

Read an article here that talks more about what indoor plants remove toxins from the air.

Here are some indoor plants to consider that have been known to help clean up the air:

  • English Ivy (Hedera helix)
  • Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)
  • Golden pothos (Scindapsus aures or Epipremnum aureum)
  • Peace lily (Spathiphyllum ‘Mauna Loa’)
  • Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema modestum)
  • Bamboo palm (Chamaedorea sefritzii)
  • Snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata‘Laurentii’)
  • Heartleaf philodendron (Philodendron oxycardium, syn. Philodendron cordatum)
  • Selloum philodendron (Philodendron bipinnatifidum, syn. Philodendron selloum)
  • Elephant ear philodendron (Philodendron domesticum)
  • Red-edged dracaena (Dracaena marginata)
  • Cornstalk dracaena (Dracaena fragans ‘Massangeana’)
  • Janet Craig dracaena (Dracaena deremensis ‘Janet Craig’)
  • Warneck dracaena (Dracaena deremensis ‘Warneckii’)
  • Weeping Fig (Ficus benjamina)
  • Gerbera Daisy (Gerbera jamesonii)
  • Pot Mum (Chrysantheium morifolium)
  • Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica)

Air Filters

I recommend having two air filters, one where you sleep and the other where you work. You spend the majority of your time in these two places so it’s imperative that the air you’re breathing is clean and pure. It’s well known now that the air inside your house is more unhealthy than the outside air, even if you live in a city. This is because of all the materials inside the home are out gassing with little to no circulation.

Having an air filter will allow your lungs to be spared from these toxins.

“Either you get a filter, or you become the filter”

When looking for an air filter you’ll want to look for these 4 things:

  1. Hepa
  2. Ultra Violate Light
  3. Ozone
  4. Positive/Negative ions

There are two air filters that I have known about for some time. One is from Aranizer and the other is from heaven fresh. You’ll have to do your own research and contact the companies to find out all the details about how they work.

The Bathroom – Water Filtration

In my mind water is key. You can read more about how we’ve been harvesting spring water for drinking purposes lately. But that doesn’t solve the bathroom problem or showering problem.

This article is about setting things up one time and then letting it work for you passively, like a true lazy man. And no lazy guy would drive 2 hours to get spring water like we do. 😉

If you can simply change the water you drink or bathe in, you’ll be taking major steps to improving your health.

Here are some links below to get started. The first one offers drinking water where as the last 4 offer water filtration products.

Conclusion

What I like about doing all of these things is that you make a one time investment and you don’t do anything different. You don’t have to change your daily routine in any way, it’s just that your daily routine becomes supportive of your health and healing rather than hindering it.

Remember it’s not one thing that’s going to harm our health or one thing that will heal us, it’s the accumulation of health supporting habits practiced over time that deliver the goods.

So why not shore up the two main areas of your life where you spend about 16 hours a day?
