Bobby Edwards – How Squatting Can Relieve Constipation, IBS, Hemorrhoids & Improve Digestive Health

Today we had an amazing discussion with Bobby Edwards.

Bobby Edwards is from a company called Squatty Potty that produces a toilet stool to help improve your digestion..

First I’d like to apologize for how long it took us to get this show published. Right after the show I came down with a cough which ended up turning into the whooping cough from what I was able to read online. My whispy, dry unproductive cough had all the earmark symptoms of the whooping cough. Couple that with Christmas time and it was a less than excellent combination of circumstances that kept me from publishing this episode.

Not only was I unable to publish this episode but the incessant coughing prevented me from recording any new shows. I apologize for that. I’m about 90% better now and we’ve got a few shows we’re going to publish before we go on vacation for 2 weeks starting January 10th. 🙂

In any event this show with Bobby Edwards from the Squatty Potty was really good. It was a lot of fun talking about poop! I mean only in 2013 can you do an entire show on digestion and pooping and expect to keep an audience right?

We talked about why squatting is anatomically the best way to defecate. Squatting actually straightens out your puborectalis muscle in your lower colon so that your excrement actually falls out of you instead of being kinked at a 75 degree angle. When our thighs are at a 90 degee angle from our torso this actually keeps your puborectalis muscle kinked so you don’t eliminate waste.

It’s nature’s way of preventing us from accidentally going poop while we’re standing.

By squatting the way we’re supposed to (look at any dog when they go poop) it allows for a more full evacuation during bowel movements and it also prevents the pressure and strain that can lead to hemorrhoids and other digestive disorders.

We love our Squatty Potty and hope you buy one for every toilet you have in your house.
