Why I’m Getting Rid Of Google Adsense

I’d like to be as transparent as I possibly can with this blog. I find that many people hide behind their websites not really revealing their real names, or their true identity.

This happens quite often and to some degree I can understand it. But for the purposes of this blog I’d like to document everything we’re doing in the world of health, healing and nutrition, whether good or bad. My sincere hope is that in some way, you can find some benefit from it.

This post is a bit of a different insight into this blog. Normally all my content is meant to share health information, something motivational and hopefully….something meaningful. This particular post is going to shed a little light on how I’m running things around here.

Recently I was running Google ads on the site as one of the many methods we’re using to help fund our ongoing efforts. First I had them as an ad block at the very beginning of the content on the very left.

This was very effective and helped to bring in some decent money. Because of the “success” I installed another ad block in the sidebar off to the right hand side.

But something just didn’t feel right about it. For example, I was noticing lots of ads showing up that were completely opposite to what I believe about health. I justified the use of these ads by telling myself that I’m here to offer choices and options for people. If somebody wants to go to a dentist who’s going to damage their health, who am I to stop them? If I’ve offered a place where they can go do that, it’s a win/win situation right?

Um, not so much.

Time For Change

After much contemplation and thought, I decided to pull the plug on the ads. I know sites like Natural News uses them (they’re a compltely natural and holistic site) and have really good success with Google ads, as did I.

But I realized that by doing this I was helping to not only harm the health of you the reader, but I was also helping to grow the establishments that I don’t believe in, and as a result make money off of it. In a way I felt like it was blood money.

I was helping to grow the establishments I didn’t believe in by providing, targeted users which help them to grow their website traffic and make sales. They also benefited by gaining customers through newsletter sign ups or other types of branding. Most of these types of companies are interested in long term branding.

Money isn’t so important to me that I’m willing to sell out to get it.

The other issues I have with Google ads is that I was more concerned with monetization than realizing the damaging effects of displaying these types of ads. I now realize that I’m able to “somewhat” control which ads show up by manually blocking certain websites from being displayed.

In other words, I care very much about you the reader and the state of your health. I don’t want you to click on some ad that promotes a toxic “cure” just so that I can make a couple of bucks.

Even though the ads were bringing in some good money, I kept making note of the types of websites that were showing up. I tested and re tested. I even had a big list of sites I blocked, but after a while other sites would show up that don’t serve the purposes or vision of this site and future community.

I found myself spending way too much time trying to “monitor” which websites showed up rather than building new features on the site or writing articles you could benefit from.

You can only spin your wheels for so long. After you’ve given something a number of legitimate chances, it’s time to pull the plug.

I guess it just boils down to integrity and actually caring about people. I want you the reader (and one day listener) to find real solutions to your health problems in a non toxic natural way.

I’m not willing to sacrifice the integrity of my message to make money, I don’t care how much it is. It’s not fair to you. I can go to sleep each night knowing I did the right thing and am making the right decisions about the direction of this blog.

All too often I see people promoting whatever it is that will make them money. I think this not only causes distrust in some people but it also makes it harder for guys like me who really want to do the right thing and promote the right products because they actually give a damn about their community and their followers.

Here are 3 example websites that made their way onto my blog.

http://www.Cedars-Sinai.edu

The Cedars Sinai website is something I whole heartedly do not want to promote. I have many reasons for this but suffice it to say that I believe people should really try natural treatments first before trying radical methods like drugs or surgery.

Plus if you’re a regular reader of this site, you probably agree so you would never want to even click on that type of ad. On the flip side if you somehow stumbled on my site by accident (perhaps by a search term unrelated to natural health) and you clicked on that ad and somehow connected up with this hospital and got surgery or something, I’d feel really bad about that.

Then what would happen if you got surgery from them and it went bad? Somehow in some weird way, I’d be partly responsible for that. I care too much for you to be somehow involved in that.

http://www.smilegeneration.com/

This is a general dentist type site. As you know, from everything I’ve been able to study, I believe that most diseases are caused by problems in the mouth. That could be root canals, cavitations, tooth extractions and more. I highly suggest people visit a holistic whole body dentist that understands the connection between the mouth and disease.

Why would I want to send you to some run of the mill dentist? I would if I really didn’t care about you and just wanted to use this site to make money. I don’t want to “use” this site to make money. I want this site to be a catalist for helping you heal from the root cause of disease, and then achieve optimal human health so tiy can thrive in every area of your life. That’s what this site is all about.

Sure I want this site to make money but only if I can do it ethically and in the end help you. I don’t care about getting rich I just want this site to be able to pay for its own expenses that’s all.

http://www.proliahcp.com/

This site actually promotes some kind of drug to help with bone fractures and osteoporosis. As you can read from my article about how to increase bone density naturally, I don’t recommend taking pharmecutical medications at all. All drugs are poisons.

Why send people to a site that sells something harmful?

In Summary

I want you to know that what we’re trying to do here is help you understand the causes of disease and offer natural solutions to find lifelong healing. I don’t care about treating or managing symptoms. I’ll leave that up to the billion dollar medical mafia.

I don’t care about money either. The money will come. I just want to provide honest information to help you reclaim your health.

My intention is to launch the radio show sometime this year with cutting edge interviews about how to do exactly that. I want you to take an active role in your health. I want you to take full responsibility, get in the drivers seat and figure out what’s really going on. Because let’s face it, you’re just a number to your doctor. They’re not going to be with you when you’re experiencing some kind of pain at home.

I guess you can say I was in a way shielding you from the constant garbage that we’re already exposed to in those crafty television commercials that run all day and night.

I also want to protect the integrity of each reader and this site. In no way do I want to be associated with that industry.

If you’re interested in natural health and taking responsibility for your health, I’m sure you can understand.
